View Full Version : Replacement pilot drill bits
What are the part numbers for the carbide tipped and standard high-speed steel pilot drill bits for the Hole Pro X-200?
Where are they listed for sale on the Hole Pro website?
Thanks

All models of the Hole Pro twin blade hole cutters use a standard 1/4" or 6mm high speed steel pilot. We have not stocked them as they tend to wear very slowly with normal use and the cost for the shipping would be greater than the cost of the bit which is easily purchased locally.
For the record, the closest match to the original Hole Pro pilot bit is a 17/64" or 6.9mm screw-machine-length bit sold through McMaster-Carr supply. These bits have the proper length and flute size. They are also available in cobalt steel which is more durable the standard HSS pilot bit when drilling through tough abrasive materials like plaster.
A 1/4" pilot bit is not the correct size for the X-200. When a 1/4" pilot bit is mounted in the hole pro, since it is smaller diameter than the original pilot bit, it will be off center and cause increased run out of the pilot hole and the cutter blades which makes for a rough, sloppy cut and also increases the possibility of binding and blade breakage.
